Focus on the energy potential of properties in Almedalen

On June 24, 2026, Catena hosted a seminar in Almedalen to discuss how properties can become key players in the future energy system.

An engaged panel delivered an insightful and engaging discussion in sunny Visby. The conclusion was that several exciting initiatives are already underway, and both property owners and representatives from energy companies agreed that the opportunities are significant. To scale up, greater clarity around business models is needed, along with increased standardization and a collaborative framework between different stakeholders that provides a better understanding of each other’s conditions. With this in place, it will be easier to determine the value of flexibility and fully realize the potential of Sweden’s property stock.

The panel featured Johan Jaxell, Head of Technology and Sustainability at Catena; Rikard Henriksson, Head of Energy Services at Öresundskraft; Sandra Jonsson, Head of Technology and Property at Vasakronan; Magnus Eriksson, CEO of Eskilstuna Strängnäs Energi och Miljö AB; and Anna Brännström, Sustainable Transformation at Revelop. The discussion was moderated by Therese Fernlund from STUNS. Thank you to everyone who participated and to those who joined to listen!

At Catena, we are happy to continue the dialogue and share examples of how properties can contribute to the energy transition.
