Reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and climate impact starts with setting high standards for our buildings. That’s why environmental certification is a central part of Catena’s sustainability efforts – a tool that helps us carefully review and ensure the quality of our properties.

For existing buildings, we use the BREEAM In-Use certification system, the most established one in Europe. For new developments, we apply BREEAM-SE in combination with the NollCO2 certification, where our internal standard is to achieve at least the Very Good level.

Working with environmental certifications is like a health check-up for the building.

The key to sustainable buildings

Environmental certification not only provides external confirmation of our sustainability performance – it also ensures transparency and confidence for our stakeholders.

With the updated BREEAM-SE manual, we now have the opportunity to select indicators aligned with the EU Taxonomy for activity 7.1. This both simplifies monitoring and creates clearer processes in our projects.

Overall, certifications help us take a holistic approach to reducing emissions – both during construction and in day-to-day operations.
