Climate-smart locations
There are many opportunities for reducing the environmental impact of the logistics system. Catena also wants to find opportunities together with different partners, be involved in networks and have regular meetings with municipal leaders in our market areas to support the development towards more sustainable logistics. Transport is energy intensive and thus affects the environment. By being careful about choosing the right location for your logistics facilities, transport can be minimized and thus also the burden on the environment. Transport efficiency is also an important factor for companies' profitability, since Sweden has long distances and a large dependency on exports.
By placing warehouses and terminals outside urban centres, incoming cargo can be delivered to these transhipment terminals. There, goods to be forwarded into the urban centre can be reloaded in a manner that enables higher load factors, flexibility in truck sizes and more accurate route planning. This creates opportunities for more cost-effective solutions while increasing comfort for those receiving goods by making it possible to reduce the number of delivery times. While each situation is unique, we have opportunities to improve the efficiency of logistics in Sweden’s urban centres.
